Abandoned Towers of Mount Ida

Fire watchtowers have been used for years to mobilize teams by noticing forest fires in a short time. Life is difficult in the towers, which are located in places far away from the settlements and in crucial points to view the environment.

In the first years when the towers were founded, those working in surveillance were selected from the regional villages, and today the situation has changed. With the developing technology, technical control and surveillance has been started. In a few towers that are still in use, the staff of the Forestry Directorate continues to work.

We did this work to give a last salute to the towers being used to protect the forests for years.
